IFSE Institute Announces New Financial Literacy Champion Award

Call for nominations to recognize exemplary financial advisor who fosters financial literacy

Mississauga, ON – December 6, 2018 – IFSE Institute (“IFSE”), a leader in financial education for professionals in the financial services sector, has announced its sponsorship of the first-ever Wealth Professional Financial Literacy Champion Award.

The award will recognize a truly exceptional financial advisor who has demonstrated leadership and commitment to bettering the lives of individuals and families by promoting financial literacy and actively working to educate members of their community. “Financial literacy is about empowering individuals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make better decisions about their finances,” said Christina Ashmore, managing director of IFSE. “Financial advisors have always been key to educating their clients on money matters and helping them develop positive habits. This award acknowledges this role of financial advisors as financial educators.”

Nominees should be involved in a financial literacy initiative that engages their audience and inspires them to take positive action towards their own financial well-being.  It can be in any format: classroom training, workshop, game, or mobile app. The goal should be to facilitate better outcomes for those participating.

“There are so many dedicated financial advisors out there who work tirelessly to improve the financial well-being of Canadians” adds Ashmore. “By offering this award, IFSE is paying tribute and shining a spotlight on all of these great ideas and activities, with the hope of encouraging more of them.”

Anyone can nominate a financial advisor who they believe is a leader in financial education. To be eligible for consideration, the advisor must be working for a securities dealer or as a life insurance agent. In addition to their work on financial literacy, nominees must demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning.
